Dependency relationship does not mean stop entrepreneurship

An article that I read and with which I shared many points of view is «10 reasons why you shouldn't get a job«Basically what he talks about is that it is better to stop working for other people to undertake and start working for ourselves.

While that statement is 100% true, there is no reason not to work for ourselves while in a dependent relationship… even if it sounds rather counterintuitive.

Perhaps not all the reasons that I present can be applied to all jobs or markets, but if you find a job where you can apply them, it is better that you make sure you get the most out of it and much more if you plan to have your own ventures in that area.

3 Reasons why you should get a job if you want to undertake:

1) Experience: How much would you pay to receive advice 8 hours a day from an expert with many years of experience in your area?

The answer that many people would give is "A LOT", however we can get that for free, in fact we can get paid to learn from professionals much more trained and experienced than us.

It is possible that in your workplace there is one or more people with a very interesting profile and with a lot of knowledge in the topics that interest you ... and it is very likely that they will not have problems in clarifying some doubts!

The experience that can be obtained from a good job is invaluable, being a "nobody" it is very difficult for you to get important and large clients ... which helps you to test your knowledge on another scale.

Working for an agency it is much easier for us to have the possibility to work on at least a small part of an interesting project or to ask questions of the people involved in the most important aspects of the project.

This experience can never be taken away from you by anyone and if one day you start a company by yourself it can make the difference between success and failure.

2) Be heard: If we work in a place where our opinion, criticism or suggestions are listened to then we have a one in a million chance… and we have to take advantage of that.

Nobody knows everything about anything, something that always helped me was to give my opinion based on good arguments when I see that something could work better, that is our opportunity to show that we know what we are talking about and that we are up-to-date professionals on our subject.

I never think to what extent the responsibility of my work is limited, I could do less and still keep my job but this is not the best long-term strategy.

We could be missing a lot of opportunities and a lot of experience by keeping quiet.

3) Contacts: Do you think the best deals will come from a Google search?

The answer is that companies with better budgets first search among their personal contacts for people they can really trust and have known for years ... then if they don't find anything they try other alternatives such as Google, social networks, etc.

I hope they tell me I'm wrong, but that is my experience.

Getting involved in the company where we work naturally gets us contacts and if we demonstrate our skill and knowledge we make sure they remember us for future deals.

If one day we leave the company (on good terms), nothing prevents these contacts from also serving us for other opportunities, projects, recommending us or helping us in future projects of our own.

Nobody prevents you from undertaking a project at the same time that you work in a dependency relationship, it only means that you are going to slow down at the beginning and that you are going to dedicate a lot of free time to professional activities ... however with the experience gained it is very possible that you will save more than one fall.

This is how we work for ourselves while being in a dependent relationship, it is more a matter of focus and attitude.
