6 Tips for Writing Google Adwords Ads
Here are 6 tips that we can use when writing our Google Adwords ads to improve our CTR and the quality of traffic, perhaps not all the tips can be used in the same ad or some cannot be applied to what we are offering or the focus we want to give the ad.
These tips were extracted from minute 25 of the Stompernet video about the Google Adwords Triangulation Method.
1- Make an irresistible promise: What does the person who sees our ad really want to achieve? The ad should promise that the person will get what they are looking for.
In the video they use a great example of a baby gifts ad, the title has only the keyword chosen for that ad "Baby Gifts" and the first line reads: "Put a smile on baby's face today!" with that line they already cover this point, since the objective of a person who buys a gift for a baby is to make him happy.
2- Solve the reader's most immediate problem: With the previous line this point is also covered, someone who is looking for a gift for a baby usually needs it for the first birthday or the baby shower and wants to look good, making the baby happy meets that goal.
3- Protect the reader with a warning: Although in the case of advertisements for baby gifts this does not apply if we want to focus on the side of "making the baby happy", this advice could be useful if we go on the side of security in case we offer a product or service that could be dangerous if it is of poor quality.
4- Help articulate the real objective of the reader: We must guide the person as to what is the objective they want to achieve by buying the product or service we offer, this is even more important when it is very possible that the product we sell is a gift for another person.
Again this point is fulfilled in the sentence: "Put a smile on baby's face today!" of the ad.
5- Call to action: Many times for a person to do what we expect it is enough to tell him to do it.
The second line of the example ad in the video is: "Shop now for free shipping to USA", a line with a more than explicit call to action.
6- Demonstrate what the acquisition experience is: This is NOT about telling the reader about the characteristics of the product, but about what is the benefit of owning our product or hiring our service. Again, this point is met in the first line of the ad.
Taking these points into account when writing our Google Adwords ads is important since by making a good offer, giving a solution to a problem, a reason why to choose us and calling for action, we ensure that we have a good CTR (so that we can lower our cost per click and continue in the same position or even improve) and that our traffic will be of quality.
