SEO Errors 101: Obsession with keyword density

In the "Dark Ages" of the Internet, the first search engine results that were in vogue could be totally manipulated with only on-page factors such as keyword density within the text.

At one point everyone was keyword stuffing In order to achieve the first results in the SERPs, at that time they went to really ridiculous lengths for the sole purpose of manipulating the search engines.

The old search engines did quite simple analysis of the text within a web page to determine its relevance, that never worked to give good results, hence when Google came up with a much more elaborate algorithm it ate up all its competition in a short time. .

Rather than overweight keyword density, Google places much more importance on inbound links and the actual relevance of the content (This "relevance" is calculated by the GoogleBot by analyzing the text patterns of the content), it is a combination of both on-page and off-page factors that gives the final result that we see in the SERPs.

What not to do: Sacrificing the quality of our content with the sole objective of increasing keyword density.
