How to write good titles for your posts
I have been reading about copywriting for some time, experimenting and applying what I learned in my own articles. Reading the articles I wrote on one of the fleeting blogs I had in 2008 I realize why no one would ever read them very carefully.
Copywriting is an essential part of Online Marketing and of all kinds of written communication really, one of the blogs that I read on a daily basis is CopyBlogger and it helped me a lot, so now I share an article about 8 types of titles that work.
1- Direct titles: A direct title explains in a couple of words what what we are going to read is about, they go straight to the point without the intention of sounding far-fetched or radiating a lot of creativity, however they are VERY useful, an example could be: «Guitar auction electrical ».
2- Indirect titles: These titles are more subtle and the idea is to create a question in the reader, which will be answered in the body of the article. A useful resource is to use double meanings, such as writing a title that refers to the flu but is really about Viral Marketing.
3- News Titles: As its name implies, a title is a news title as long as it is about… (snare drums)… a news item. Pretty obvious, right?
People today more than ever want to be as up-to-date as possible, so talking about a recent event or a product that is about to be launched is always attractive.
4- How-to-do-such-a-thing: A type of title that abounds everywhere but always seems to have a good result.
I particularly like this type of title very much because from the beginning it lets me know that I am going to obtain information on a particular point of a topic of interest to me, the title of this article is an example.
5- Titles with questions: Questions are another very useful resource, since well used we can use them to empathize with the reader and make him want to know the answer.
6- Title with call to action: This type of title tells the reader what to do, it is very important that the first word is a verb that demands action.
7- Title of reasons-why-that: It is not necessary for the title to explicitly say "4 reasons why you should only use free software", what is really important is that the idea is conveyed to the reader that the body of our text is going to talk about reasons for doing something or why things happen.
A good example is: "7 ways to better use Twitter."
8- Testimonial titles: Something that people like to do is read stories and identify with them, that is why the opinion of third parties influences so much.
A title of this type is generally a quote about our person, product or service and the name of the person who said it, then in the body of the text we follow the quote. An example would be: "My traffic increased by 200% in a short time - Juan Pérez"
