The 7 «C» s of Personal Branding, how to create a brand around yourself.

liz_pabon - create your own personal brandThis is an original article by Liz pabon, an entrepreneur and expert in Personal Branding, even though this topic is not related in an ultra-direct way with Online Marketing, I consider it important to talk about creating a brand around us since the idea of this blog is also to promote ourselves as professionals and therefore to our industry.

While large companies invest a lot of money in trying to create a personal image with which to get new clients and retain existing ones, we as individuals have a power that the big ones do not have… we are a person!

To achieve this task, a sporting goods company, for example, sponsors a famous athlete and uses him as a spokesperson for the company.

We have a resource in a superior sense to cause the same effect in a job interview or getting a new client, we are our own spokesperson and we must know how to make the most of this resource to make a good impression and generate a feeling of trust.

It is not about pretending something that we are not or lying to try to please someone, but quite the opposite ... knowing how to show who we really are in the first impression.

In her article Liz talks about the 7 «Cs» that she uses as a key to transmit who she is to her clients and now we are going to see them.

Character:

We must know that when we talk about developing a brand on our person everything begins and ends with us, while we develop our personal brand we must know if we are showing the best of ourselves or if we are repeling our potential clients.

Our character must also be strong, if we do not have a strong character all the other necessary characteristics will not have an effect.

Commitment:

It is natural that when we show ourselves as committed individuals we get a positive response from people.

People who "practice what they preach" and show an attitude of always wanting to move forward transmit confidence and attract other people. (Do you know Johnnie Walker's "Keep Walking"?)

Confidence:

It is confidence in our own work that makes us unstoppable and drives us forward, it is good to clarify that we are not talking about arrogance because arrogance can make us reject certain solutions for not accepting that we are wrong.

True confidence aims to find solutions to problems.

Competence:

Being a competent person is not only about knowing how to do the job, but about knowing how to recover quickly after failing. The more competitive we show to our audience, the more loyal they will become.

Consistency:

Our personal brand must be consistent, if the way of transmitting our person is not consistent it can become confusing and our audience can lose interest in us.

Creativity:

There are no steps to follow to be successful and the world is constantly evolving, this is not bad, in fact it is very good because it helps creative people stand out from people who get stuck in solutions that worked yesterday but that today they are already obsolete.

Courage:

Being completely clear about the attributes of our personal brand means revealing who we are, flaws included. It takes courage to acknowledge our mistakes and improve the flaws.

Although I do not like the self-help wave I think this article is useful to help create credibility around ourselves and therefore the Online Marketing industry that suffers a lot because of people who promise «first positions in search engines »Without having a very clear picture, I don't like to see people who think that the internet is not going to work for them just because they have had a bad experience.

In the next articles I promise you less blah blah blah and something much more practical 😉
