The Day after Google
These last days I did not write any article because I had problems with the Internet signal at home, but now everything is normalized and I write again 🙂
One question I had fun with these days was: What if Google disappears tomorrow?
Luckily there is no nearby event that could cause this and I honestly believe that the only thing that could cause this is for a meteor to fall and wipe out the entire planet ... in that case no one would miss it.
But just for the fun of the matter, let's make that point and let's talk about what we think would happen, I came to a couple of conclusions:
1) Online marketing agencies are deprived of their largest qualified traffic provider, losing customers at a tremendous rate and they start testing medium after medium looking for which one brings them a tolerable return on investment ... most agencies close.
2) A huge competition is unleashed between all the other search engines and new competitors emerge in the environment, however it will take a long time for some to reach the maturity of Google and its services.
3) We return to the stone age of SEO, keyword stuffing, link bombing and abuse of meta tags everywhere.
4) In the absence of satisfactory results due to all the black hat SEO in the various search engines, people turn to social networks as the main source of information and research, your friends are the new living SERPs.
5) The calm comes after the storm, some years have passed and everything is stable again, online marketing agencies timidly reopen, those who managed to adapt quickly to the new environment were the only survivors and they display their war scars with pride ... they survived to an apocalypse.
Only a search engine is crowned as the new king, it becomes the largest company in the world and the history of the Internet continues where it left off.
As you can see, I really like apocalyptic science fiction stories, hehe. What do you think would happen? 😉
