Adwords: Ad Rotation by Conversion Rate
A few weeks ago the Google Adwords team introduced a new type of ad rotation setting for a campaign.
Traditionally we always had two options regarding ad rotation:
1) Optimization based on CTR: Letting the Adwords system "optimize" your campaign performance by displaying the ads with the best CTRs more often.
2) Rotate: Show ads within an ad group evenly.
Personally, I prefer to use the second option when a campaign is new to do an A / B Test of ads, after each ad has accumulated a significant amount of clicks I proceed to pause those that had the worst conversion rate.
Once only the best ads in each group are active, I typically change the campaign settings to the first ad rotation option.
Thanks to the new ad rotation option, we can optimize directly for conversion rates without having to do it manually.
The new option is next to the other ad rotation options within the campaign settings tab.
I'm going to be testing this new ad rotation option to see how it really works, Have you already tried it? 😉
