Export and Import Campaigns Easily with Adwords Editor

In different situations you may need to migrate one or more entire campaigns from one account to another, this could be necessary either to reorganize an account, for a change of SEM service provider or basically for any other reason.

A specific case is that of a client of mine who had his campaigns for both Argentina and Brazil within the same account and wanted to divide them into two separate accounts to be able to manage / optimize the campaigns and their budget in a more comfortable and independent way. , as well as controlling the performance of each country separately without the need to prepare any report.

Each country had more than 20 campaigns and migrating them, which may seem like a beastly job, it is really VERY simple using the option of Export and Import campaigns of the Adwords Editor.

First, we just have to open the account from which we want to export the campaigns in the Adwords Editor.

It is worth clarifying that these campaigns are nothing more than an example for this post 😛

Suppose we want to separate the campaigns targeting Brazil in a new account to facilitate the analysis and management of the campaigns.

Creating the campaigns again in a new account would be a headache and would consume a lot of work time, so we will simply use the export campaign function of the Adwords Editor.

Then it is just a matter of manually selecting the campaigns that we want to export.

Once we have selected all the campaigns, we click "OK" and save the CSV file.

Then we must open in Adwords Editor the account in which we want to import the recently exported campaigns and select the option "Import CSV" and choose that we want to import from a file.

Once the file is selected, we will see the following screen that shows all the data that will be imported.

Normally it is not necessary to make any changes if the file was obtained through the Adwords Editor export option, so we proceed with the import by clicking "Import".

Once the import is processed, we will see the following message:

Then we select the option «Review imported changes» and voila! The campaigns are already imported into the new account and we just need to select the option "Keep the proposed changes".

Once the proposed changes are approved, it is only necessary post changes so that the campaigns in your new account start showing our ads. 🙂

On the other hand, if you carry out an export and import of campaigns, it is VERY IMPORTANT remember to pause or delete the campaigns that were exported in the previous account, since or else we will have duplicate campaigns in two different accounts, which can earn us a penalty for Double-Serving.

I hope this article is useful to save you some time in your day to day with Google Adwords.
