Google Adwords: New option for targeting tablets
With the growing BOOM! of tablets, Google Adwords could not be left behind and announced on its official blog that within the following weeks they will be launching a new tablet targeting option.
The new option will be found in the "Networks and devices" section of the "Configuration" tab with the name "Tablets with full browsers".
The idea of this option is to be able to easily target campaigns to all devices that fall within the tablet category, being able to choose the type of device and operating system we want to target with precision.
Landing page layout
If we are going to orient a campaign to tablets, it is very important to design an optimized landing page for it, taking into account the limitations and resolution of these devices.
This is not only a recommended "best practice", but the system will limit the scope of a campaign that uses a landing page that it does not consider optimized for tablets (for example: pages made in flash)
Advantages of targeting campaigns to tablets
Depending on the product or service that you promote, this new option can be vital as well as it can go unnoticed.
If you develop or sell applications, web services, accessories for tablets or tablets themselves, this new option can greatly boost your business.
Imagine bombarding all iPad 1 users with iPad 2 ads, that's being evil hehe
If the campaign is more branding-oriented, being able to reach a specific demographic is just as powerful.
Types of ads that can be shown to tablets
Tablets will only be able to see standard text ads and display ads (at least for now!).
Personally, I will try this option when they launch it openly, it never hurts to have more options for Display.
Do any of you think that this new option can help you a lot with your campaigns? 😉
