How to show Ads on Youtube with Adwords
A very frequent question I get is how to show ads on YouTube with Adwords and make sure they are only shown to people who could potentially be interested in our products or services.
Achieving this is quite simple, so I detail step by step how to show Adwords ads on YouTube.
Step 1: Target the campaign to Managed Locations
In the configuration options of the campaign you must select the option "Relevant pages only in the locations and in the public that I manage" in "Networks and Devices".
Step 2: Add only Youtube as your only managed location
In the "Networks" tab, add "youtube.com" as a managed location. This will cause your ads to show up all over YouTube, which is not the best if we want to show our ads only to people potentially interested in our product or service.
There are two methods to target our campaigns to specific segments of YouTube users who may be interested in what you offer.
1) Target the campaign only to specific videos
Instead of adding "youtube.com" as a managed location, we can use the tool Youtube Video Targeting Tool to get location URLs for specific categories, channels, or videos. It is good to note that not all videos can be used for direct guidance.
2) Refine the location «youtube.com» with keywords
The other option is to add a list of relevant keywords to the ad group that owns the managed placement "youtube.com" to contextually refine the categories, channels and videos where the ads will be displayed.
Step 3: Create Ads
Currently there are various ad formats that we can display on YouTube videos.
1) Text ads
Lifetime text ads can be shown within YouTube videos, just create them in the same way as always.
2) Video Image Ads
Youtube accepts graphic ads within the videos, because the graphic ad size that Youtube accepts is 480 × 70 (non-standard size of the display network), these ads must be created with the Display Ad Builder tool. graphics).
To do this, we must first enter the Graphic Ad Creator.
Then we access the «Video and Audio» category and select the «Static image in video» format.
The static image in video allows the use of a "companion ad" of size 300 × 250, when this option is chosen both the static image and the companion ad are displayed on the video page at the same time.
