to Use Automated Rules in Google Adwords"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a previous article we had commented on the <a href=\"https:\/\/guillermopareja.com\/en\/ppc-google-ads\/google-adwords-automation-rules\/\">Google Adwords automation rules<\/a>, so today I am going to explain in a step-by-step tutorial how to apply them to your campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Automation rules, as their name suggests, allow you to automate certain changes that would otherwise have to be done manually, thus saving the user time.<\/p>\n<p>A classic example of the use of automation rules is the modification of the daily budget of a client&#039;s campaigns on certain days, previously with the ad scheduling tool we could only completely stop the campaigns or adjust the bids according to day \/ hour .<\/p>\n<p>Suppose that the client wants to increase the daily investment of their campaigns during the weekend, the best option to preserve sanity is to create a rule that increases the budget on Saturdays and then a counter-rule that decreases it on Mondays.<\/p>\n<p>To start creating the rule, first we select the campaigns we want to modify, click the &quot;Automation&quot; button and choose the option &quot;Change the daily budget when ...&quot;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/guillermopareja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/adwords-automatizacion-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1172\" title=\"adwords automation 1\" src=\"http:\/\/guillermopareja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/adwords-automatizacion-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"227\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the next screen we are presented with the different options that we must configure to create our rule:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/guillermopareja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/adwords-automatizacion-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1173\" title=\"adwords automation 2\" src=\"http:\/\/guillermopareja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/adwords-automatizacion-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"732\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/guillermopareja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/adwords-automatizacion-2.jpg 732w, https:\/\/guillermopareja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/adwords-automatizacion-2-300x172.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 732px) 100vw, 732px\" \/><\/a><strong>Apply to: <\/strong>It allows us to select the campaigns to which the rule will apply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Automatic action: <\/strong>Defines the action that will be performed automatically when the rule is activated, the budget increase can be done both as a percentage and as a fixed amount.<\/p>\n<p>This option also allows you to configure a maximum budget in case we do not want the rule to increase the budget beyond a limit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements: <\/strong>In this option, the requirements that must be met for the rule to be executed are configured, in this case we leave it empty because we want the rule to always apply.<\/p>\n<p>It can be configured so that the rule only fires if certain events occur, such as a specific number of conversions, clicks, or once a certain cost has been reached.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frequency: <\/strong>It defines the frequency with which the rule will be executed, in this case we choose to execute it weekly on Saturdays at 1am.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule name: <\/strong>A name is created to identify the rule.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Email results: <\/strong>This option allows us to receive an email every time the rule is executed, when errors occur or if we prefer, never.<\/p>\n<p>For this example we select the option to receive an email every time the rule is executed, in this way we can easily control the moment in which it was executed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results Preview: <\/strong>We can perform a preview to make sure that we configure the rule correctly, it is highly recommended to always use this option.<\/p>\n<p>In the case that it is the first time you use the automation rules, the following message will appear.<\/p>\n<p><a Voil\u00e1!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remember that if you want to create temporary rules (that the budget only increases during weekends), you need an additional rule that
